What is MNMA?

MNMA is a nonprofit, international organization of musicians, teachers, composers and notation inventors. The goal of MNMA is to explore ways to improve music notation so that it can be more accessible and useful for all.

Since our formation in 1985, MNMA has published dozens of quarterly newsletters and several books. These publications document our research, our extensive debates, and hundreds of notation proposals. A number of major universities have our newsletters and other publications in their libraries.

MNMA usually meets every three years for a conference in some part of the world. In 1988 we met in Norwich (England). In 1991 we met in Saint Louis (United States). In 1994 we met in Rotterdam (Netherlands). In 1997 we met in Cebu City (Philippines). In 2003 we met near Chicago (United States).
